Two people in separate hearings this week in Highland County Common Pleas Court were sentenced to prison on drug charges.

Nicholas S. Babbs, 34, Hillsboro, pled guilty to third-degree felony illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

According to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins, Babbs has prior felony convictions and has previously been to prison.

Alicia Adray, 36, Portsmouth, was sentenced to prison after admitting to violating her community control.

In 2014 she pled guilty to fifth-degree felony heroin possession and in July of that year was sentenced to three years of community control, court records show.

This week Adray admitted to violations that include a conviction in Portsmouth Municipal Court in November, failing to report to probation in March, and consuming illegal drugs, according to the notification of alleged violations filed with the court in late March. Adray was sentenced to nine months in prison.

The hearing was handled by visiting judge Alan Corbin, as Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss previously recused himself from the case.

In other hearings this week, Mary C. Henderson, was granted judicial release to the STAR residential treatment facility.

Henderson was sentenced to 20 months in prison a year ago after she pled guilty to fourth-degree felony trafficking in heroin in the vicinity of a juvenile and fifth-degree felony heroin trafficking.

Billy Floyd McClain, 35, Lynchburg, pled guilty to fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of methamphetamine. He is to be sentenced in May.

According to the plea agreement, the state will not oppose community control and treatment “based on HB 86,” which dictates that a first-time, low-level felony offender must be sentenced to community control.

James Leach, 62, Greenfield, pled guilty to complicity to aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony. He was granted intervention in lieu of conviction.

While Leach is successfully engaged in the intervention in lieu of conviction program further prosecution on the case will cease. If he successfully completes the program the felony offense will be dismissed.
