A member of the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District Board announced at Tuesday’s meeting his intentions to resign from the board.

Travis Mootz, who represents Washington Township, said on Wednesday that his reason behind resigning from the board was his “conservative” views on handling district money as compared to the rest of the board.

“My views on finances are too far off from the majority of the board,” he said.

Mootz has served on the board for two and a half years and he said he thought he could help in the position, but the differing views are too much in the way.

“Maybe someone else from Washington Township can be a better representative at this time,” Mootz said.

He said he plans to talk to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins about the how his exit should be handled, and he will discuss the matter at the township trustees’ next meeting, which is Monday.

Mootz said he appreciated the time he has spent on the board. “I wish the district the best and want it to succeed,” he said.

In other business, the board approved a recommendation by chief Bradley George to donate all of the it’s out-of-service air packs to two smaller fire departments for use for parts and for training purposes.

The district recently purchased all new air packs to replace its aged and outdated gear. The new air packs have gone into service within the last couple months.

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District Board meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Greenfield’s station one located on North Washington Street. The meetings are open to the public.
