Paint Creek board meeting
The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District will hold a regular board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 640 N. Washington St., Greenfield.
Care-A-Van schedule
The Care-A-Van Health Assessment Clinic, a cooperative service offered by Highland District Hospital and the Highland County Health Department, will visit the Shopko parking lot in Greenfield from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Lynchburg-Clay Board of Ed
The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session Wednesday, Dec. 14 at approximately 8:30 p.m. (after a staff dinner), at the high school library.
HDH Christmas tree display
Highland District Hospital is inviting the public to stop by and look at its department Christmas trees on display in the main lobby from Dec. 16-22. Each tree is individually decorated by each department in the hospital. This display will include an opportunity for you to cast your vote for your favorite tree, as well as place a running bid throughout the week to purchase the tree. All proceeds will go to the HDH Foundation GreatER Care Campaign. Trees can be bid on beginning Friday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. that Thursday the bidding will stop and the winners will be notified. Trees must be picked up that day or Friday, Dec. 23 by 3 p.m. Otherwise, they can be collected beginning Tuesday, Dec. 27 in administration.
Knights of Pythias Christmas party
The Knights of Pythias Lodge in Belfast will hold a Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 17. Festivities begin at 5:45 p.m. and dinner at 6:15 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish. There will be drawings, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, food, prizes and games. Santa will arrive at 7:30 p.m. Gifts are donated by local merchants, friends and families. Humane Society fundraiser
The Highland County Humane Society’s next fundraiser will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Upper Cuts Salon, 401 W. Main St., Hillsboro. The Art for Animals exhibit is a way to bring the community together to raise money and awareness to adopt a pet from the local shelter. Proceeds will go directly to Highland County Humane Society in Hillsboro. This exhibit will give a chance for local artist to share their talent. For artists that want to enter there is a $15 fee for two pieces or art and $25 fee for three pieces. The fee will go to the shelter. Any artwork the artist sells, the artist keeps. The deadline for art submissions is Dec. 12. Interested artists can contact Katie DelRae Chain through a Facebook private message or email [email protected]. Parking for the exhibit will be available in front of the salon and across the street at the school board parking lot. There will also be a raffle, hors d’oeuvres and punch and coffee. Donations of dog food, cat food, toys, etc. will be accepted.
Meal preparation class
The monthly class in meal preparation will be held at the community room at the Greenfield Area Christian Center, 510 N. Fifth St., at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. Class members will prepare food which they can take home along with additional ingredients and recipes. Call 981-7176 for reservations.
First Baptist Christmas Dinner
The fourth annual Christmas Dinner will be served at the First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., Hillsboro, on Sunday, Dec. 25. Dinner will be served at the church from noon to 2 p.m. The church will also deliver from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. within a 10-mile radius of its location. The Lynchburg Lions Club is selling bulk candy through December at the Southern Hills Community Bank and the Beechstreet Candleworks in Lynchburg. Eighteen different varieties are on sale. Stop in during regular business hours and purchase high quality candy at reasonable prices.
