SSCC offers Certiport Test Centers

Southern State Community College understands that today’s employers are looking for employees who are up-to-date with current technologies and industry-standard certifications. To help fulfill this need, the college currently operates two Certiport Pearson VUE authorized Test Centers, one at the central campus in Hillsboro and one at the Brown County Campus in Mount Orab.

Certiport is a Pearson VUE business and is the leading provider of certification exam development, delivery and program management services worldwide. Their portfolio brings leading certification programs to Southern State.

Each test center provides on-site, in-demand industry certification tests and professional licensure exams for students and community members. Pearson VUE offers nearly 6,000 tests for a variety of certifications and qualifications, some of which include: GED, QuickBooks, Autodesk, Adobe, American Medical Technologists, Cisco Systems, Inc., · CompTIA Testing, Ohio Assessments for Educators, Microsoft Office Specialist, ACT WorkKeys and ServSafe.

Dr. Erika Goodwin, vice president of academic and student affairs, commends each test center for the high-quality services they provide. “We are proud to provide our test centers to both our students and the communities we serve,” she said. “Our Test Centers allow Southern State to be a major player in the workforce for businesses and government entities that require systematic credentialing. There are hundreds of certifications and qualifications for in-demand skills, and this is a great way to build a resume for a new career or upskill for a current occupation.”

In addition to the test centers, Southern State offers many other services designed to meet the needs of the community including associate degree programs in the areas of business, computer technology, engineering, education, human and social services, health sciences and law enforcement, as well as one-year certificate programs in accounting, aviation: general, airframe and powerplant, medical assistant technology, phlebotomy, practical nursing and real estate.

Students can also enjoy bachelor’s degree completion opportunities through on-site partnership agreements, adult basic literacy courses and workforce training programs.
