New statistics from the National Weather Service (NWS) are released daily showing highs and lows for temperature, the accumulated precipitation each day and how that compares to historical numbers, with those statistics showing multiple near-highs recently for Hillsboro data.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Online Weather Data system, the Hillsboro area had an overall accumulation in 2023 of 39.92 inches of precipitation. The NOAA data system reported that the average year of precipitation for the Hillsboro area is 47.64 inches, with 2023 significantly lower.

The Hillsboro area received 3.23 inches of precipitation in December 2023. The data showed that this was only slightly lower than the average for the month, with that average measured at 3.84 inches. This is also lower than the highest recorded accumulation for December, which was in 2007 with 9.65 inches of precipitation. This is the 12th-highest recorded accumulation for the month since the earliest record shown in 2000.

For November 2023, the data showed that Hillsboro received a staggeringly low 1.70 inches of precipitation, which was lower than the average for the month of 3.25 inches. This was also lower than the highest recorded precipitation counts for the month, recorded in 2011, with that being 7.29 inches. This number was the fifth-lowest accumulation for November, with two of those months not showing any data.

For October 2023, Hillsboro had 4.43 inches of precipitation. The data stated that this was higher than the average precipitation for October of 3.68 inches. The data also stated that this was not the highest recorded accumulation for the month, that high coming from 2004 with an accumulation of 6.39 inches. It was the ninth-highest accumulation since the numbers were shown in 2000, with one of those months not showing any data.

Regarding temperatures for 2023, the data stated that December in Hillsboro had an average temperature of 39.6 degrees, with a high of 61 degrees and a low of 19 degrees. The data stated that this was above the average for December since data was recorded in 2000, with that average being 34.5 degrees.

For November 2023, the data for Hillsboro showed that the month had an average temperature of 42.3 degrees, with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 11 degrees. The data stated that this average was just under the overall average for the month of November of 43.0 degrees.

For October 2023, the statistics stated that the month had an average temperature of 56.0 degrees, which included a high of 86 degrees and a low of 30 degrees. The statistics also showed that the average for October 2023 was above the overall average for the month, that being 54.7 degrees.
