Assault conviction sends teen to prison

A Chillicothe teenager sentenced to multiple years in prison for felonious assault was among eight people sentenced recently in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Cameron Renner, 19, was sentenced to four years in prison for felonious assault, a second-degree felony. He was given 15 days of jail-time credit.

According to court documents, around Aug. 16, 2023, and continuing through Aug. 17, 2023, Renner and an accomplice caused physical harm to the victim with a Taurus PT140 .40 caliber handgun.

In other sentencings, Travis Zuber, 30, Toledo, was sentenced to five years of community control on one count of possession of hashish (liquid), a third-degree felony, and a forfeiture specification.

Zuber was ordered to pay a monthly supervision fee of $50 per month beginning on April 1, 2024, to the clerk of courts. He was must pay a fine of $5,000 in monthly payments of $250 beginning on April 1, 2024.

According to court documents for the first count, on May 19, 2022, a vehicle was seen on South East Street. Police ran the license plate and found it to belong to Zuber. Officers obtained a search warrant. As they were watching the house, they saw three people, one of them being Aubrie Utley, who was also sentenced, loading things into a stash house on S.R. 124, then returning to the other location.

Zuber left the property and was stopped on S.R. 73 by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. Two of the people who were loading items were taken into investigative custody, with a search warrant then executed on the South East Street property, which was within 1,000 feet of Saint Mary Catholic School.

Through a search of the house, the “boxes” previously carried into the property were found. They contained 989 NOVA brand vape cartridges that contained .64 grams of THC per cartridge. A search of Zuber’s truck revealed a backpack that held $16,400. The truck contained multiple trash bags of marijuana edibles. Also found in the truck were 10 Mad lab cartridges containing .63 grams of THC. Officers also found six NOVA cartridges at .64 grams of THC apiece. The total grams of hashish in liquid form were 663 grams, per BCI testing.

According to court documents the following items were forfeited: a 9 mm Taurus handgun, $20,393, a 2007 Honda Accord, a 2012 Chevy Silverado, a Honda motorcycle, a 2019 Dodge Ram truck, a 1999 Lexus and a 1998 Chevy Tracker.

Aubrie Utley, 26, Hillsboro, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of possession of hashish (liquid), a third-degree felony.

Details for Utley’s case are the same as Zuber’s first count.

Christopher Eaton, 32, Hillsboro, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of aggravated trafficking in meth, a fifth-degree felony. He was ordered to pay restitution of $60 through the Victim Witness Escrow Account by Aug. 1, 2024, and to successfully complete treatment through Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center and any recommended aftercare.

According to court documents, around Nov. 15, 2021, confidential informant 2 (CI2) purchased “slow” from someone in their camper. During the deal, Eaton and told CI2 that they had meth for sale. CI2 agreed to purchase it from him for $60. A short time after completing the first deal and giving over the substance, CI2 returned to the camper to meet with Eaton.

The first dealer was present and told them that Eaton would arrive “shortly.” Eaton then arrived and gave CI2 a bag of substance, which was sent to BCI and tested positive as .93 grams of meth.

Deandra Wilkerson, 50, Greenfield, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of aggravated possession of meth, a fifth-degree felony. She was ordered to successfully complete Substance Use Disorder treatment at TRC and aftercare.

According to court documents, while a trooper was on patrol around April 6, 2023, on Lyndon Avenue near Washington Street in Greenfield, they saw a vehicle with an expired registration. The trooper activated the overhead lights to start a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The vehicle stopped and the trooper made contact with the driver — Wilkerson. The trooper saw that Wilkerson had bloodshot eyes and wasn’t wearing a seat belt. They indicated that their driver’s license was suspended. The trooper also saw that Wilkerson was fidgety. The trooper asked Wilkerson to exit the vehicle and she indicated she had marijuana in her pocket. She also admitted that she’d smoked meth. After a pat down for weapons, she said that the meth was in the purse she was holding.

A baggie of marijuana was found in her purse. Also inside of the purse was a baggie that contained a crystal substance that tested positive for meth. After Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Wilkerson was placed under arrest for OVI.

Elizabeth West, 30, Greenfield, was sentenced to three years of community control on two counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies. She was ordered to successfully complete SUD treatment at TRC and aftercare, plus play restitution of $180 to the Highland County Task Force.

According to court documents for the first count, around Feb. 24, 2023, West sold a fentanyl-related compound, a Schedule II controlled substance.

According to court documents for the second count, around March 5, 2023, West knowingly sold or offered to sell a fentanyl-related compound, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Christina Jenkins, 57, Greenfield, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony. She was ordered to successfully complete SUD and aftercare, plus pay restitution of $240 to the Highland County Task Force.

According to court documents, on Jan. 23, 2023, two investigators met with a CI who said they could purchase one gram of fentanyl from Jenkins for $120. The CI indicated that Jenkins would have to go to someone else’s house on McKell Avenue in Greenfield to get the product.

Investigators dropped the CI off on South Fifth Street and monitored them through the recorder. The CI met someone and the two walked to a property on McKell Avenue that the CI mentioned. The CI waited at the corner of McKell and South Fifth Street while Jenkins went to the back of the property. Jenkins returned to the CI and the two walked to Jenkins’ residence on Lyndon Avenue.

The CI left the residence and met with the officers, giving them a plastic bag of an unknown substance. The CI said they met with Jenkins on South Fifth Street and walked with them to the location on McKell Avenue. After that, Jenkins took the money and walked up an alley. Jenkins returned to the CI and they walked to her apartment where she told the CI she’d given them the wrong bag and “did not want her husband to know she had dope.”

Jenkins told the CI to go to the bathroom and exchanged the bag with one she had in her shirt. The substance was submitted to BCI and found to contain a fentanyl-related compound.

James Louthan, 34, Cincinnati, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. He was ordered to successfully complete SUD treatment and aftercare.

According to court documents, around June 4, 2023, Louthan received a 2022 Ford F-450 truck with a dump bed with Louthan knowing the property was obtained through the commission of a theft.
