Hillsboro man charged with bank robbery

A Hillsboro man is being held in the Ross County Jail in Chillicothe after being charged in the April 18 robbery of the Buckeye Savings Bank in Bainbridge.

Williams L. Eads, 49, has been charged with robbery, a third-degree felony, by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $25,000 bond, according to Chillicothe Municipal Court online records.

Eads allegedly robbed the bank at 101 E. Main St. in Bainbridge around 11:30 a.m. April 18. Initial reports said he handed a note to a teller and that no weapon was seen during the incident, according to various reports.

Ross County Sheriff George Lavender Jr. said on the office’s Facebook page that he would like to thank the Highland County Sheriff’s Office and Highland County Prosecutor’s Office, Hillsboro Police Department, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Ohio Department of Public Safety for their assistance in the investigation.

Eads was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office said its officers, along with deputies from Ross County, located him at an address in Paint Township in Highland County.

He appeared in Chillicothe Municipal Court on Tuesday where a preliminary hearing was set for 1 p.m. May 1, according to online records.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office has not returned calls seeking further information.
