The McClain 4 x 100-meter relay team of (l-r) Kaitlyn Jett, Katie Cook, Brenna Wright and Luca Matesic took first place at the district meet in a time of 49.99. Wright also took first place individually in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles.

The Hillsboro and McClain track and field teams had athletes advance to regional competition in 20 individual events and eight relays during the 2024 Division II Southeast District Track and Field Championships held last week at Washington High School.
On the girls side, McClain junior Brenna Wright was a double winner in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, and Hillsboro sophomore Jailyn Williams won the 800 meters. The McClain 4 x 100-meter relay team and the Hillsboro 4 x 200 meter relay teams also claimed first place.
On the boys side, McClain senior Jackson Crago claimed first place in the pole vault and Hillsboro’s 4 x 800-meter relay also claimed a district championship.
The top four finishers in each event advanced on to the regional this week, while the top eight finishers in each event placed. Following is a list of the placers in each event:
