The certified results of this month’s general election were released by the Highland County Board of Elections last week. The total number of ballots cast in Highland County was 12,911 out of 27,203 registered voters for an overall turnout of 47.46 percent.

L-C band earns highest rating at state finals

The Lynchburg-Clay Marching Mustangs earned the highest possible rating at the 2022 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Marching Band Finals recently at Alexander Stadium in Piqua. This marked back-to-back state finals in consecutive school years for the Marching Mustangs, with the OMEA giving them a Superior (I) rating for this year’s performance, “Under the Moonlight.”

County jobless rate drops

The unemployment rate in Highland County fell in November to 4.4 percent, a fall of 0.3 percent from the previous month, according to figures released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).

COLUMBUS — Nathan Brown of Hillsboro has been re-elected as a District 20 trustee for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. He will help govern the state’s largest and most inclusive farm and food organization and represent Farm Bureau members from Adams, Brown, Clermont and Highland counties.

Fayetteville Elementary School was recently dedicated as an official WILD School Site, the 200th site in Ohio and first in Brown County, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
