Grand jury hands down indictments against 9 suspects

A S.R. 138 man charged with strangulation and domestic violence was among nine people indicted Tuesday by a Highland County grand jury.

Jason Creager, 40, was indicted on one count of strangulation, a fourth-degree felony; and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to court documents for the first count, on or around Sept. 13, 2023, Creager knowingly caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to the victim by means of strangulation or suffocation, with the victim being a family or household member of Creager’s.

According to court documents for the second count, on or around Sept. 13, 2023, Creager knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to the victim, who was a family or household member.

In other indictments, Sheridon Riffle, 22, Reynoldsburg, was indicted on one count of burglary, a second-degree felony; safe-cracking, a fourth-degree felony; and theft, a fifth-degree felony.

According to court documents for the first count, on or around May 11, 2023, Riffle, by force, stealth or deception, knowingly trespassed in an occupied structure, in a separately secured or a separately occupied portion of an occupied structure that was the permanent or temporary habitation of the victim, when the victim or any other person other than an accomplice of the offender was present or likely to be present, with the purpose to commit in the structure a criminal offense.

According to court documents for the second count, on or around May 11, 2023, Riffle, with the purpose of committing an offense, knowingly entered, forced entrance into or tampered with a vault, safe or strongbox.

According to court documents for the third count, on or around May 11, 2023, Riffle, with the purpose of depriving the victim, the owner of the property, knowingly obtained or exerted control over said property, to wit: miscellaneous paperwork, U.S. currency, jewelry and other miscellaneous items, with the said property being valued at equal to or exceeding $1,000, but less than $7,500, without the victim’s consent.

Also indicted on Tuesday were:

* Allen Shoemaker, 65, Hillsboro, for violating a protection order or consent agreement, a fifth-degree felony.

* Thomas Cordes, 37, Williamsburg, for breaking and entering and theft from a person in a protected class, both fifth-degree felonies.

* John Falgner III, 41, Lynchburg, for breaking and entering and theft from a person in a protected class, both fifth-degree felonies.

* LeDonna Adcox, 28, New Vienna, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies.

* Terry Pigg, 40, New Vienna, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies.

* Gary Seitz, 32, Greenfield, for possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony.

* James Louthan, 33, Cincinnati, for receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony.
