Hillsboro FFA hosts Day of Giving

0

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently hosted a new event called a Day of Giving at Hillsboro High School. The event was focused on being more involved with the community by assessing the needs of the local people and taking action.

All of the items put together through donations and efforts will go to different organizations within Hillsboro. The FFA members had many opportunities to take action in order to benefit this cause. During the Day of Giving Hillsboro FFA members were assigned to help with many different things such as assembling gift baskets for infants and young children which were donated to the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center, stockings with gifts were given to the Highland County Homeless Shelter, FFA members provided blankets to be distributed by Hillsboro’s first responders and the local Children Services program was provided with book bags.

Students also designed cards for the nursing home, treats and food for the local dog pound, and provided winter clothes to veterans in need. All of these different items and more were referenced to the club as needs from the organizations they are going to. These items were things that were seen as something that members of the local community needed and did not have access to.

Another goal of this innovative event was to show Hillsboro FFA members the importance of giving back to the people that are close to you in an environment like Hillsboro. The Hillsboro FFA Chapter hopes that all of these efforts will go toward their intended cause and benefit the people who are receiving this aid.

The Day of Giving event would not have been possible without the sponsors and the Hillsboro FFA Chapter would like to thank them all.
