The Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped (SATH) organization will host the 32nd annual Celebrity Golf Classic Monday, April 29 at Snow Hill Country Club near New Vienna.

The tournament will consist of 25 foursomes with one celebrity on each team. Celebrity sports figures who have confirmed so far this year include John Warden (1968 World Series pitcher for the Detroit Tigers), David Fulcher (former Cincinnati Bengals safety), Ronnie Oester (former Cincinnati Red), Kip Young (former Detroit Tiger) and possibly for McClain High School and Xavier University basketball player and coach Dante Jackson.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support KAMP (Kids and Motivated People) Dovetail, a five-day, four-night annual volunteer-run summer camp at the Rocky Fork State Park serving children with special needs. More than 300 special needs children attend the camp each year, and it is supported by approximately 400 volunteers.

The camp primarily serves special needs children in Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette and Highland counties. Each child at the camp is teamed up with a personal volunteer to ensure the best experience for every participant.

This year’s KAMP Dovetail will mark its 42nd year.

Last year’s golf event raised more than $30,000. SATH Executive Director Linda Allen said she hopes to raise at least $30,000 from the event this year. “There’s been years it’s been $20,000 or $25,000, but if we raise $30,000, that would be really good for KAMP Dovetail,” she said.

An auction of sports memorabilia will take place after the tournament at about 3:30 p.m. It is open to the public.

Items to be auctioned will include autographed items from the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. “We’ve got a lot of great auction items, and the auction is open to the public, so if they would like to come out in the afternoon there are a lot of good sports memorabilia items that are autographed by the guys, but also Bengals, Ohio State and Reds stuff that we have already acquired,” said Allen.

Allen said there is still room for teams to participate in the event at a cost of $200 per player or $800 per team. Each team will draw to determine their celebrity player at 9 a.m. before the event begins at 10 a.m. Businesses and individuals can sponsor a sign to be placed at one of the holes on the course during the event for $100. The sponsor will receive the sign with an autograph by each celebrity after the tournament.

John and Andrea Holt, the owners of Ponderosa in Hillsboro, are sponsoring the event and providing lunch for the tournament.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Those interested in participating in the tournament can contact Allen at 937-366-6657 or 937-364-6144 after 5 p.m.
