The Highland County Republican Central Committee has appointed Patty S. Day as the new Hillsboro city auditor to fill the vacancy in the auditor’s office.

2023 Ohio fairs schedule released

Ohioans can start planning visits to all of their favorite fairs across the state. The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) today released the official dates for the 2023 fair season, which includes Ohio’s 94 county and independent fairs and the Ohio State Fair.

Judge: School can proceed with bus garage

The Highland County Court of Common Pleas granted a judgement in favor of the Greenfield Exempted Village School recently in a dispute with the village of Greenfield about the approval of a zoning permit allowing the district to build a school bus garage on a property known as “the practice field” between North Seventh Street, North Eighth Street, McClain Avenue, and North Street in Greenfield.

Gas prices continue to fall

The gas price has fallen by 12 cents since last week with the national average now nearing below $3.50 per gallon, totaling $3.54, according to an American Automobile Association (AAA) news release. This release said it was the “steepest” weekly drop since early August.

Grant for Alternatives to Violence Center

The Alternatives to Violence Center has announced it has received a $2,500 grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. These funds will support the Seeking Safety program, which works to provide survivors of domestic violence with shelter and related services.
