GREENFIELD — Any coach will tell you that a win on the road is a great thing. A conference win on the road is an even better achievement. Any coach will also tell you that playing at historic McClain High School in Greenfield is never an easy task, no matter the sport or the season.

Jake Browning once again shocked the football world over the weekend by putting up another impressive performance in a 34-14 blowout against a solid Indianapolis Colts team. I have to admit that I didn’t trust that he would have us in a position to still be in the hunt, but I was completely wrong. He is poised in the pocket and has shown over the last two weeks that he has the ability to manage the offense in big games. At 7-6 though, it is going to take more than just two stellar performances to get this team into the playoffs.

Five Highland County football players were named this week to the 2023 All-Ohio Football teams by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

Wrestling kicked off on Thursday when the Hillsboro boys and girls team traveled to Washington C.H. for a Frontier Athletic Conference dual meet. It was a clean sweep for Washington, as the boys, girls and junior high teams all defeated the Indians.

The Hillsboro High School girls varsity basketball team appears to be an up and coming program in the Frontier Athletic Conference. The lean years seem to be receding into the past under head coach Heather Storer.

GREENFIELD — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers basketball teams visited McClain High School for a Frontier Athletic Conference conference Saturday. McClain won the varsity game, 45-37.

In just four short years, the Whiteoak Youth Soccer Program at Bright Elementary has evolved from its humble beginnings into a powerhouse, achieving remarkable success and garnering well-deserved attention. The Wildcats have not only made a mark on the local soccer scene, but have also clinched two state championships in the past three years.

As a Cincinnati Reds and Bengals columnist and a Cincinnati sports fan my whole life, there truly isn’t anything that compares to RedsFest. The Reds organization does a fantastic job with fan interaction and I can’t think of another professional team that does a better job in allowing contact with the athletes and past members of the organization.
