COVID numbers up in Highland County

Following a brief respite from COVID-19 at the start of December, Highland County and the rest of the country have seen numbers increase for an extended period of time, according to The New York Times COVID-19 Tracker.

Muzzleloader deer hunting season results released

COLUMBUS — Hunters checked 12,712 white-tailed deer during Ohio’s four-day muzzleloader season that concluded on Tuesday, Jan. 9, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. This total accounts for all deer taken with muzzleloader and archery equipment between Jan. 6-9.

Hillsboro council meeting canceled

The city of Hillsboro has announced that the regularly scheduled council meeting for Thursday, Jan. 11 has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum. The meeting will not be rescheduled. The next regular council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at Hillsboro Municipal Court located at 130 Homestead Ave.

Theft lands local man in prison

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to 18 months in prison in Highland County Common Pleas Court on multiple counts of theft by deception.

Senior center has new vehicle to deliver meals

Local donations to the Highland County Senior Citizens Center have allowed the organization to purchase a 2022 Ford Transit that it uses to deliver meals to seniors within the city limits of Hillsboro.
