WILMINGTON — The Hillsboro High School boys bowling team closed the regular season portion of their schedule Monday with a 2,683 to 2,469 non-conference victory over Clinton-Massie at Royal Z Lanes.

LEESBURG — The Miami Trace Panthers rebounded from a conference loss to the Washington Blue Lions on Feb. 3 when they visited another team of Lions, this one from Highland County, on Tuesday.

February baseball is nearly here

The sun has finally popped out over the last few days and we have officially made it to February. January without Bengals playoff football makes for a long month, but we are finally approaching warmer weather and some baseball action. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 13 and the first spring training game is on Feb. 24.

Fairfield rallies to knock off M. Trace

EBER — After defeating the Washington girls at the buzzer on Saturday night, the Miami Trace Lady Panthers had just one day of rest before hosting the Fairfield Lady Lions on Monday night. Miami Trace led by as many as seven points in the second half, but a ferocious late rally from the Lady Lions propelled them to a 55-43 victory.

Six straight league championships

After 108 games played together as a team since third grade this group of Hillsboro eighth graders recently finished with six straight league championships. Since third grade the team is 97-11 overall and undefeated against Frontier Athletic Conference opponents. The won both the FAC regular season and tournament titles this year.
