WC to host ‘Life Stories’ exhibit

The Meriam R. Hare Quaker Heritage Center’s new gallery exhibit “Life Stories” is a mixed media display that features 10 women, serving long prison sentences, speaking their truth from inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women. An opening reception will be held Feb. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the QHC located in Wilmington College’s Boyd Cultural Arts Center.

Wilmington College received a $400,000 Behavioral Health Workforce Development Grant designed to enhance academic efforts in the social work field with the goal of eventually seeking formal program accreditation.

The Fairfield FFA Chapter in Leesburg will celebrate National FFA Week, Feb. 17-24. Te week embraces more than 95 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future. The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), in partnership with the Longaberger Family Foundation, is accepting grant applications to support K-12 civics education programming throughout the region.

Quaker lobby leader to speak at WC

Diane Randall will present a lecture titled “The Seeking Life: On Being a Quaker,” on Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., as a highlight of her time at Wilmington College as its 2024 Quaker-in-Residence. Her presentation in the McCoy Room of Kelly Center will follow a reception and book signing from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

SSCC launches professional development program

Southern State Community College will host a series of professional development courses open to the public. The first session begins Feb. 28, 2024, and registration is required.
