Health department offering free PSA screenings

June is Men’s Health Month and the Highland County Health Department is offering free PSA screenings to help men in the county stay healthy.

The annual Greenfield Rotary Club Auction at the festival had one of its best turnouts in years, raising more than $20,000, including $14,100 from the sale of 10 prints by Tammy Wells, a local artist who has created the print for 22 years. Rotarian Barb Barton said that since the Rotary Club is selling the Ralph W. Phillips Community Recreation & Civic Center, more money from the auction will be available to help the community rather than being spent on maintenance of the civic center. Sanders sworn in as sheriff

With his grandson Henry Sanders holding a Bible, Randy Sanders (right) is sworn in Friday by former Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward. Sanders was appointed sheriff on June 1 after former sheriff Donnie Barerra announced his resignation effective May 31. Sanders won a primary election in March for the position and that term begins Jan. 5, 2025.

L-Clay to compete in national competition

The Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts held their annual State Envirothon June 3-5 at Hocking College and Lake Snowden. The top four scoring teams from each of the five area envirothons were eligible to participate in the State Envirothon.

Library Comic Con is June 15

The Hillsboro library’s annual comic con is set for this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and includes more than 20 different activities for patrons of all ages.
